Delivering an intergenerational urban development

We recently came together with our scheme partners to discuss the successful delivery of The Depot, our intergenerational development catering for all stages of life, with affordability, adaptability, and a keen sense of design.

From its former use a bus depot, which had stood vacant for many years, the change is transformational bringing forward much-needed new, quality housing to the community.

The scheme has delivered more than 300 new homes and is made up of a mix of house types including:

• One-and-two-bedroom apartments across four low rise blocks, furnished to a high standard.
• Extra Care apartments for people aged 55 and over, with communal indoor and outdoor space, additional facilities plus the option for individual support, as needed.
• Spacious family homes with modern open-plan interiors, some of which were offered as shared ownership.
• Private rented, hi-spec apartments, including a number suitable for ‘step down care’.
• Specifically designed apartments for over 55s, with enhanced HAPPI principles in place.
