A proud moment joining our project partners on site to celebrate a major construction milestone at the Centre for Living Well, part of the transformative St Thomas’ Gardens development – Stockport Council’s flagship intergenerational community.
The scheme officially ‘topped out’ as the final roof slate was laid on the building’s highest point, marking a significant step in the regeneration of the former Grade II listed hospital site.
As lead construction partner, Rowlinson is delivering the 82-bed intermediate care facility alongside eight supported housing units.
Once completed, the Centre will provide vital short-term care and rehabilitation for people recovering after hospital stays or needing support to avoid admission – helping them regain independence in a safe, purpose-built environment.
David Chilton, Chief Executive Officer at Rowlinson, said: “The team’s expertise in complex urban regeneration and later-living design is key to progressing this flagship scheme – one of the first of its kind in Greater Manchester.
“This milestone reflects the strength of collaboration between all the partners working to deliver a place where people can stay connected and thrive.”
