Designed with lower carbon living in mind

Rowlinson has started work on a new affordable housing development at Cross Lane, Salford, working in partnership with Together Housing.

Located on a brownfield site formerly occupied by The Ship pub, the scheme will transform the vacant, underused site into 19 new affordable rent apartments, helping to meet local housing demand in the area.

Designed by MCAU, the development will create a three-storey apartment building providing a mix of one and two-bedroom homes. The scheme has been carefully designed to complement the surrounding neighbourhood, with landscaped communal areas that encourage resident interaction and create a welcoming place to live.

The site occupies a prominent position at the junction of Cross Lane and Liverpool Street and is close to local amenities, schools and public transport links. The development supports wider regeneration objectives for the area while increasing the supply of high-quality affordable housing.

Sustainability has been a key consideration throughout the design process, with proposals including a range of measures and energy efficient building systems to help reduce energy consumption and support lower carbon living.
