Scheme update

Great progress is being made at our Hattersley site, where we’re delivering a range new-build housing for Onward Homes.

Onward acquired the brownfield land from Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, with approval to build 161 new homes across three central sites that will help to meet a defined housing need in Tameside:

• 15 homes for shared ownership
• 55 homes for affordable rent
• 91 Extra Care homes, catering for over-55s with diverse needs

The first handovers are underway.

Work will continue in the construction of the Extra Care building where we have three apprentice bricklayers on site, and more apprentices to come from other trades as the build progresses.

There will also be further infrastructure progress as we begin installing the road crossing into the site, from Hattersley Road East, joining it to the newly built on-site access road.

Local MP, Jonathan Reynolds, recently visited the site together with local councillors, as part of a tour of Onward Homes’ activity in the area and was grateful to see the progress.

As well as the construction work, supporting the communities we become part of remains an important part of the job.

We’re proud that our site earned an excellent accreditation as part of the Considerate Constructors scheme.

Furthermore, the team continues to help with collections of supplies for the local foodbank, has supported work placements, hosted a training day for the local fire service and the site has even formed the backdrop for an upcoming TV production.
